Part Boarding Agreement

Advantages to You:                                                                                            return to top

  • no capital investment in  horse, tack or blankets
  • no unexpected expenses
  • no vet or farrier costs
  • if your part  boarded horse is lame or sick there is often another horse that you may ride
  • if you can't get to the barn  you know that your horse will probably get some work anyway
  • the price is less than 1/2 of regular outside board (for pleasure part board)
  • the horse is often ridden in lessons by  people who will improve it
  • you get  priority  and no rental fees on that  horse for O.O.F. horse shows (for show part board)
  • if  circumstances change and for some reason it is not working out you do not have to worry about selling the horse
  • I will not sell a horse  during a show season, if that is the package option you have chosen.
  • you have right of first refusal if the horse is offered for sale
  • it is an excellent way to try out a horse before purchase

Disadvantages:                                                                                                  return to top

  • the horse will be used in the school
  • occasionally you may have to wait  breifly as your horse was needed for an unscheduled lesson
  • you have to clean tack once per week
  • there is a slim chance that your horse might sell
  • somewhat like a lease you must commit to a  "season" of part boarding:
    • Fall: Sept. 1 to   Dec. 31
    • Winter: Jan. 1 to  Mar. 31
    • Spring: April  1 to June 30
    • Summer: July 1 to Aug. 31 or
    • Show: April  1 to Sept. 30.
  • one month notice  is required before the end of  the  season  if you wish to discontinue part boarding
  • the horse belongs to me
  • if I feel that the arrangement is no longer in the best interest of the horse for any reason, or that the rules of the barn or part board agreement are not being adhered to,  I have the right to terminate  the arrangement  immediately
